14" ANTIQUE CROSS BOTTLE No. 03: BEJEWELED CHANDELIER CRYSTAL CROSS ATOP A BEACHED SEA BOTTLE
14" ANTIQUE CROSS BOTTLE No. 03: BEJEWELED CHANDELIER CRYSTAL CROSS ATOP A BEACHED SEA BOTTLE
A plethora of fiery multi-faceted, both weighty and diminutive crystal chandelier remnants form this striking cross which crowns an aqua bottle of beautifully patinated, antique glass. The contrasting yet complementing elements are endless here --the beach tossed antique condiment bottle transformed while hidden under the ocean— a natural and mesmerizing patina was painted by time, the elements, and the salty sea. Forever held within the confines of heavy solder, imbued in the weathered hues of rusted and salt-eaten iron, a spray of crystal rays embellish the cross — the refined crystals throw light in all directions with their intricately cut surfaces. An opaque calcification-like buildup adds an element of visual texture while striations and trapped sediment from the ocean floor testify to the decades of tumbling with the tides and storms. Changing and uncommon riots of color flash out of nowhere within the unique patina when the light happens upon it.
Draped around the bottles neck and adding a beautiful and sacred element, a large antique silver Saint Michael medal paired alongside a petite detailed cross suspend from vintage glass rosary beads worn smooth from years of being prayed over.
